New Healthcare Project Delivery
Conferences
The Design Build Institute of America
is hosting four conferences to expose healthcare clients and
the planning, design and construction community to current
market issues and to present several techniques to help facilitate
successful project delivery.
Join DBIA for oneor all fourofferings
of our Healthcare Project Delivery Conference to participate
in the booming Healthcare marketplace. Each location has something
unique to offer both practitioners and owners.
Like DBIAs other highly successful
specialty conferences, the healthcare conferences are "owner-driven"
events that include program sessions focused on exploring
design-build from the viewpoint of the owner and targeted
to the designer, builder and end user. Sessions will emphasize
lessons learned, best practices and "how-to" approaches
to successful project delivery. These conferences are exceptional
opportunities to gain valuable knowledge about the healthcare
marketplace, and how design-build delivery can be used to
keep pace with the growing demand for healthcare services.
Attendees will:
Hear and network with owners, industry leaders and key decision
makers in the healthcare marketplace.
Learn proven techniques to facilitate successful project
delivery.
Understand how to skillfully integrate innovation, quality,
cost and schedule.
Each conference will feature sessions
covering critical success factors for project delivery and
best practices for integrated project delivery. Various multidisciplinary
panels will present and discuss lessons learned in managing
the design and construction processes. Panels will include
industry leaders such as Sutter Health, Kaiser Foundation
Health Plan, Catholic Healthcare West, The University of Texas
System, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Hartford Hospital, Buckyrus
Community Hospital (Cleveland, Ohio), and many others. For

Important Advocacy Work
DBIA continues its strong advocacy for
increasing the utilization of design-build in the states and
the federal government. More than 200 bills pertaining to
design-build project delivery were introduced in the states
during the 2005 legislative cyclea record high. Significant
design-build legislation has already passed in Indiana, Minnesota,
Montana, Oklahoma, New Hampshire, Arkansas and Nevada. Efforts
to advance design-build legislation in California and Illinois
continue. In addition, DBIA achieved a major success in advocating
for an amendment in the federal highway bill that was approved
in the Senate and in joint conference with the House that
will increase design-build usage on federal highway projects.
A summary and the full text of
2005 state design-build laws passed, as well as the DBIA-supported
amendment to the federal highway bill can be found on DBIAs
Website, www.dbia.org.
